26.2.

This is the product of almost a year of training, but 10 years in the making. In 2015, I ran my first half marathon in Nashville (and my only until October 2024). When I finished, I thought I could never do a full marathon - but I would like to by 30.

Well, signing up for the One City Newport News Marathon 3 months before my 30th birthday was supposed to help me achieve that goal. But, I have to say a pandemic and two babies later, I was not sure it would be possible, even with a year of training. Still I went out there - running 4x week, doing a half during the training, and often doing my long runs in 20-30 degree weather in the dark. I even had to run in the snow a few times!

Needless to say, this was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Training for a marathon is so interesting because honestly it has required the most discipline of anything ever in my life, but I did it! I did not hit my goal of finishing in under 6 hours (it was 6:10, miles 19-21 were ROUGH) - but my 10k and half time were faster than October - so taking that as a win!

Here’s your reminder, that you can do hard things. It most certainly will require work and sacrifice, but you can do it! content
