About

Vania Blaiklock is an American Studies Ph.D. Candidate at William & Mary. Her research often deals with the intersection of race, religion, and education in American Jurisprudence, with an emphasis on the impact this intersection has on the political and societal advancement of Black Americans.

She has written on the relationship between school choice alternatives, educational inequality, the history of segregation, and religious charter schools. Her work has been published in three different law reviews. Vania’s current academic project explores the relationship between Black Americans’ pursuit of literacy as a means of citizenship and the existence of a constitutional fundamental right to literacy.

She has also worked as a law school and undergraduate instructor, teaching courses on Constitutional Constructions of Race and the history of Black Education in America.

Prior to her graduate work, Vania worked as a general practice attorney in both Hampton Roads and Richmond, specializing in Employment Law.
